A special day at the salon

 We had a lovely visit from our old friends The Specials this weekend - they are filming for the second series of the successful series and came in to celebrate a birthday and Hilly's engagement. The series centres around Hilly and her friend so we were delighted to celebrate with her and provide them all with gorgeous manicures and pedicures.

Our trip to This Morning!

We had an exciting visit to the This Morning studios last week! 

I was invited along for a screen test - I brought along my fantastic therapist Jo with me and a model and we styled in front of the bright lights of the This Morning studios - which is much smaller than I imagined.

I gave tips on how to perfect groomed eyebrows whilst Jo worked her magic on our model with my direction.  We had a great time being snapped on Phil and Holly's famous sofa and even hung out in Gino's kitchen.

It was a great experience and we hope we will be spending more time there one day soon!

Brilliant Bikini

One of our most popular beauty treatments is the bikini wax, although there still appears to be a bit of mystery around this particular treatment. People still aren’t sure what is a standard bikini wax as opposed to a Brazilian or a Hollywood wax.

Here are some of my bikini wax tips and facts. I have also added some cartoon images to show which bikini wax is which, not the nicest of images but this will definitely help you work out which one is for you:

 Extended Bikini Wax - Hair is removed to slighly inside the knicker line.
(Standard Bikini Wax removes hair that protrudes the knicker line)

 Brazilian Wax -We will remove all hair from underneath and leave a small portion on the frontal top area. This strip can be as much, or little as you prefer

Hollywood Wax - Every hair is removed

Always exfoliate prior to a wax; this will lift any in growing hairs out

Hair needs to be 1\2 cm long for the best result

After care

Keep the area clean and dry, wear loose, clothing and no heat exposure, swimming or exercise for 24 48 hours also no perfumed lotions

Spring/Summer Beauty tips!

Recently I was asked to give tips on the Spring/Summer beauty trends seen on the catwalks and, since I've been paying close attention to all the runway looks, it only seems fair to now share them on here.

The big beauty trend for Spring/Summer 2012 was pastel shades. This, coupled with a fresh-faced, natural base was seen in almost all of the major runway shows. I recommend Microdermabrasion facials to prep the skin for a radiant Spring look. If your skin is particularly dry after the harsh winter period try something like the Crystal Clear Deluxe facial with Oxygen to really ‘breathe life’ into your look.

At Louis Vuitton the look was very 'baby-doll'. To achieve this the make-up artists applied up to ten sets of false lashes! This isn’t necessary for day-to-day make-up. Instead we offer an eyelash perm and tint to produce a similar longer-term effect, or a full set of eyelash enhancements.This results in less dramatic and more natural-looking lashes.

Neat, defined brows were seen at Proenza Schouler and Prada. Brows can make a huge difference to your look and really frame the face. I recommend getting “highly defined” brows , which not only neatens and arches the brow, but tints them.

If you’ve gone dramatic on the eyes you need to keep the rest simple to retain that healthy, youthful look. Keep pastel colours on the lips and nails and the look is complete. Essie's latest collection brings a lovely range of candy colours to your nails as well as some more muted shades, so you can have fun being a bit girlie with these.

And there you have it, a natural, youthful, flirty look that's perfect for spring. Now we just need some warmer weather!
